We always encourage our tree surgery clients in Leek to retain trees wherever possible, but sometimes they have to be removed because either they are unsuitable for their space, or they pose a threat to surrounding buildings or for a variety of different reasons.
Tree pollarding is a pruning system where the upper branches of a tree are removed, promoting a dense head of foliage and branches. It has been common in Europe since medieval times and is practised today in urban areas worldwide, primarily to maintain trees at a predetermined height.
Performing tree crown reductions ensures that all the branches are cut back to a suitable length and back to a suitable growth point. The entire crown is thereby reduced in size and volume but maintains a pleasing shape in line with the natural profile for the species.
Cleaning out and thinning the crown of a tree removes the tree crown from within, in order to make it less dense. The natural size and shape of the tree is unaffected, but the wind resistance will be reduced and more light allowed to filter through. Tree crown thinning can also limit the amount of debris that is dropped naturally by the tree during gales or periods of extreme cold.
Tree crown lifting entails increasing the gap between ground level and the first branches on the trunk. This is normally achieved by removing the lowest branches of the crown to a specified height. In order to maintain a visually pleasing shape, a tree surgery expert like ourselves will be able to advise you of your options.
Tree stumps can either be left to form an attractive garden feature, or we can grind them down to below the ground to allow for planting, fencing or other landscaping to take place; and even to make less of a trip hazard!
We can top and trim your hedges to the size and shapen you require as well as providing a regular maintenance service. We can also organise a schedule to maintain your hedges every few months or year.
We can prune and maintain your shrubs to ensure they grow to a pleasing shape and maximise the production of flowers. Shrubs can brighten even the smallest spaces and can suit any conditions.
